Reception for City Councilor Greg Chaimov’s book of poetry,

Everything is Water, at upcoming First Fridays in Milwaukie event, May 4, 2012

The Milwaukie Poetry Series of the Ledding Library of Milwaukie and St. John the Evangelist are delighted to host a reception on Friday, May 4, 2012 celebrating the publication of City Councilor and local poet Greg Chaimov’s first full book of poetry, Everything is Water.

The reception will be part of May 4’s First Fridays in Milwaukie festivities, and will take place from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. in the meeting room at St. John the Evangelist church, located at 2036 SE Jefferson St.

A poet for many years, Greg Chaimov’s poetry and short fiction have appeared in journals throughout the United States and Canada. A limited edition chapbook, The Old World, was published by the William Stafford Center at Lewis and Clark College. This first full-length collection of poetry, Everything is Water, was published by Press 22 in Portland, Or.

Greg is a fifth-generation Oregonian and long-time area resident, an attorney in private practice with Davis, Wright, Tremaine, LLP and adjunct professor at the Lewis Clark Law School.  Greg is currently the President of the City Council in Milwaukie and has held leadership positions in many civic organizations, including the Clackamas County Vector Control District, Clackamas County Historic Review Board, Ledding Library Board, and Island Station NDA. Greg continues to serve on the boards of the North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce, Ledding Library of Milwaukie Foundation and President of the North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce. He has a  J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, and a B.A., Art History, Carleton College.  He has read poetry at numerous venues in the local Portland area.

Please come and meet the poet and celebrate the publication of his book.  There will be a short reading from his book during the reception. Refreshments will be served. For information and to RSVP please contact Tom Hogan, the Milwaukie Poetry Series Coordinator, at (503) 819-8367 or email him at tomhogan2@comcast.net.
