Complimentary ID Cards for Kids @ St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 2036 SE Jefferson

Drop in on Friday, June 3rd between 4pm and 8pm to get a complimentary ID for your child.  Part of the Amber Alert Safe Child ID Project in conjunction with Rotary International Clubs, TheMasonic Lodge is providing these to families at no charge!  Bring your friends and neighbors!  We will also have art on display as well as crafts and activities for the kids.  Come check it out!

Come and share poetry!  Art a La Carte  is resuming on April 1. As part of that, the Milwaukie Poetry Series is sponsoring a Poetry Reading.

The Open Mic reading will be April 1from 6 to 7 p.m.at St. John the Evangelist church, located at 2036 SE Jefferson. Readers should plan on having the mic for five minutes, and if there’s more time after everyone’s had a chance to read, additional opportunities will be provided. There will be poetry books available for those who want to come but haven’t brought a book. To get on the list to read ahead of time, please call Tom Hogan, the Milwaukie Poetry Series Coordinator, at (503) 819-8367 or email him at tomhogan2@comcast.net. There will also be a sign-up sheet at the event for those wishing to share.

Come and Share Poetry!

The next reading will take place on December 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the meeting room at St. John the Evangelist church, located at 2036 SE Jefferson.

Milwaukie poet Bruce Wolfe will be the featured reader and read selections from his works for approximately 20 minutes.

An Open Mic session will follow for all who wish to read their own work, or some of their favorite poems. To get on the list to read ahead of time, please call Tom Hogan, the Milwaukie Poetry Series Coordinator, at (503) 819-8367 or email him at tomhogan2@comcast.net. There will also be a sign-up sheet at the event for those wishing to share.

November Featured Poet – Greg Chaimov

Open Mic follows

Friday, November 5th, 6 to 7 p.m.

As part of Nov. 5th’s First Friday, Arts A La Carte festivities, City Councilor and local poet Greg Chaimov will read selections from his works and an Open Mic session will follow.

The readings will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. in the meeting room at St. John the Evangelist church, located at 2036 SE Jefferson St.

Greg Chaimov’s poetry and short fiction have appeared in journals throughout the United States and Canada. A limited edition chapbook, THE OLD WORLD, was published by the William Stafford Center at Lewis and Clark College. His first full-length collection of poetry, EVERYTHING IS WATER, is forthcoming from Press 22.

Following Greg’s reading, the mic will be open for all who wish to read their own work, or some of their favorite poems. If you answered yes to either one of these questions we have the perfect thing for you!  Tom Hogan, the Director of the Milwaukie poetry series for the Ledding Library. He is organizing an opportunity for you to read your poetry, or that of some of the great poets of our time. The format is an Open mic from 6-7 PM inside St. Johns Episcopal church on Jefferson Street. If you are not interested in reading, you are always welcome to join in by just listening.  We would love to have you come by and join us.  If you would like to read or want more information, please call Tom at 503-819-8367.
